I need a booking system for my Squarespace website

Squarespace has native scheduling, but it is not always the right answer. Here is how to decide, what to try free first, and what we would actually install.

What is actually going wrong

Most Squarespace sites that "need a booking system" do not have a booking problem — they have a conversion problem. Visitors reach a contact form, wait for a reply, and drop out. Before adding a tool, check whether your existing enquiry flow is the actual bottleneck.

Try this first, free

Add a single, unmissable call to action above the fold on your services page, pointing at your existing contact form. Then check Squarespace Analytics for form starts versus completions over the next two weeks.

Stop here If completions rise, you do not need another tool — you had a visibility problem, not a booking problem.

Compare options If people start the form and still do not finish, or you are losing time to back-and-forth scheduling, install one of the tested options below.

What we would install

Ranked by how recently we tested them against Squarespace 7.1, how much they actually break, and how much setup they need. Commission plays no part in this order.

What we did not recommend, and why

We left out several popular embed-based schedulers. On Squarespace 7.1 they load inside an iframe that does not resize on mobile Safari, which pushes the confirm button below the fold. That is a bad experience for the exact visitor you are trying to convert, so we do not recommend them here even though they are widely suggested elsewhere.

How to do it

  1. Confirm the bottleneck using the free fix above before you install anything.
  2. Pick a tool from the list below that matches your effort level.
  3. Add it to a hidden test page first, never straight to your live services page.
  4. Test the full flow on a real phone, not just the desktop preview.
  5. Check the confirmation email actually arrives and is not caught by spam filters.
  6. Publish, then re-check form starts versus completions after two weeks.

How to tell if it worked

Compare booking completions against your previous form completions over the same number of days. If completions did not rise, the booking tool was not the constraint — revisit the diagnosis rather than adding another tool.
