Squarespell Questions

Community guidelines

Short version: be useful, be honest about what you are selling, and do not paste your passwords into a public page.

What this is for

  • Practical questions about building and improving websites, a template that will not behave, a plugin that clashes, which of two products fits, how to move a site without losing its search rankings.
  • Answers here come from the Squarespell community. They are not official support from Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Weebly or Framer, and Squarespell is not affiliated with any of them.
  • Advice that works on one site may not work on yours. Nothing here comes with a warranty, read it as a starting point, and take a backup first.

Before you post

  • Search first. If somebody has already asked it, reading their answer is faster than waiting for yours.
  • Use the right platform and category. A WordPress question tagged Squarespace reaches the wrong people and usually gets the wrong answer.
  • Ask one question at a time. Three problems in one post get one answer to whichever was easiest.
  • Do not cross-post the same question under different platforms or categories.

Keeping people safe

  • Never post passwords, API keys, access tokens, billing details or customer data. If you already have, change the credential, do not just delete the post.
  • No malicious or intentionally unsafe code, and no advice you know could break somebody's site without saying so.
  • No pirated templates, themes, plugins, courses, images or code, and no links to places that distribute them.
  • No impersonation, of Squarespell, of a platform, of a creator, or of another member.
  • No harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks. Disagree with the answer, not the person.

Promotion and disclosure

  • No spam, and no posting the same recommendation across many questions.
  • Ordinary members may not post affiliate links.
  • If you built it, sell it, work for them, or earn from it, say so in the same post. Creators answering about their own products are welcome, undisclosed ones are not.
  • Being a verified creator does not move your answer up the page. Nothing does, except being accepted or found helpful.

What belongs somewhere else

  • Billing, account access, domain ownership, security incidents and platform outages need your platform's own support. Nobody here can act on them, and posting the details publicly can make things worse.
  • Disputes about a purchase belong with the seller, or with us if you bought it from Squarespell.

What moderators do

  • Every question and every answer is read before it appears. Nothing is published automatically.
  • Moderators may edit for clarity, re-tag a wrong platform, close a question, merge duplicates, or remove content that breaks these guidelines.
  • Moderators may change or remove an accepted answer where it turns out to be wrong or unsafe. Every such change is recorded.
  • Repeatedly breaking these rules leads to a warning, then a temporary restriction on posting, then a permanent one. Each step is explained to you.

Corrections and appeals

  • If a moderator decision was wrong, reply to the email you received about it and a person will read it. We answer appeals, including ones we disagree with.
  • If an answer about your product is factually wrong, report it with the correction and we will look, but we will not remove criticism simply for being criticism.
  • To have your own content removed, or to get a copy of everything we hold about you, use the account tools or write to us. Rejected content is deleted after 180 days.
